Junta troops are being stationed in Ywathit town of Bawlake district, Karenni state, and they do not allow locals going outside, said Karenni state administration to Than Lwin Times.
Six civilians have been shot dead by the military as they tried to go out the town without being allowed.
Since the end of June, locals stranded in the town need to ask permission to go in and out of there, said U Banyar, the secretary of Karenni state Interim Executive Council.
“Six civilians have been killed as they tried to go out the town without permission. No one could escape the town, while they have no access to internet and mobile phone communications,” he added.
Most of the residents in Ywathit town are taking shelters at the monasteries, and they do not get enough basic food supplies.
As the resistance forces become stronger and the military is losing their control areas in Karenni state which is close to the military’s administrative capital Nay Pyi Taw, the junta is committing human rights abuses and genocide.
The Assistance Association for Political Prisoners reported that over 100 civilians were killed in Karenni state after the military coup, but the resistance forces estimated more causalities in this state.
