Belin, July (19)
The three young men who were arrested by the regime forces on suspicion of being members of the People’s Defense Forces near the old Shwe Than Lwin Toll Gate in Belin Township, Mon State, are only dealers who buy and sell used items, locals told Than Lwin Times.
On July 17, at around 2:00 p.m., the military council arrested three young men who were riding a motorcycle from Thaton to Belin on suspicion of being PDFs.
Those arrested are 20-year-old Maung Set Paing Soe, 19-year-old Maung Khant Zin Ko, and Ma Khin May Latt from Taung Zun village, Belin Township.
Actually, they are the dealers who buy second-hand goods in Thaton and Belin townships, and the military council’s accusation seems ridiculous to the locals, said a resident of Taung Zun.
Military lobbyists spread propaganda on Telegram accounts that those three youths are members of the Thit Cha Taung PDF.
The military council is currently planning to file a lawsuit against the three arrestees under the Anti-Terrorism Act, according to sources close to the matter.
Early last year, the military council arrested more than 20 men and women who were going to work at the gold mine in Belin Township, accusing them of being members of the PDF.
