Mawlamyine, July (20)
The Mon State Federal Council stated in a message sent to commemorate the 76th anniversary of Martyrs’ Day, that the military junta is keeping its grip on power with greed relying on weapons like Galon or Garuda U Saw.
The military regime’s brutality and aggression against the people have now reached their most severe point, said the statement.
It has been 76 years since Galon U Saw, who wanted to seek a quick path to power, and a gang of armed men massacred the nine martyrs, including General Aung San on July 19, 1947.
The message stated that this event, which happened while striving for independence, will be remembered as a terrible and disgusting moment in history.
According to the message, the people are engaging in a revolution to liberate themselves from the military dictatorship and to establish a federal democratic union in the future because of the brutal activities of the military council, which considers the public enemies, like the fascist army.
The Mon State Federal Council has also vowed to fight together with the ethnic people throughout the country for the emergence of a free and genuine federal democratic union that provides full civil rights and national freedom until the last day of the military regime.
