Belin, 7 September

At least five members of the soldiers laying in ambush near Dauk Yat village in Belin township, Mon State, were hit by a stake mine, according to joint resistance forces.

A junta column with nearly 40 soldiers, who were laying in ambush to provide security for the military convoy, hit a stake mine near Dauk Yat village around noon on 5 September.

After hitting a mine planted by the Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA), the junta army deliberately opened fire on the neighborhood using heavy weapons and small arms and then retreated.

It is reported that at least five soldiers who received critical injuries in the mine explosion were taken to Belin Hospital.

After that, artillery unit and junta outposts based in Belin Township’s Zee Wun village continued to fire heavy weapons towards Dauk Yat and Khe Mauk villages until the evening.

The military convoys are frequently attacked by landmines near Dauk Yat village on the Yangon-Mawlamyine road. When a military convoy passes by, the regime forces hide and provide security for their troops along the road.

According to revolutionary forces, on 4 September, a battle took place between the junta army and KNLA joint forces in Alu Lay village, Belin Township, and three resistance fighters were killed, while the junta side also suffered casualties.
