Eight members of the regime forces were killed in two-day battle between the combined force of the KNLA/KNDO and the junta army that launched an invasion into Taung Kyar Inn in Karen State’s Kyondoe Township, reported KNU-Dooplaya District and White Tiger Column.
Nearly 70 forces from Infantry Battalions 230 and 208 and Light Infantry Battalion 546 under Military Operation Command-12 (MOC-12) entered Taung Kyar Inn village and stationed at the monastery.
The invaded junta column and the allied forces of the Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA)/People’s Defense Forces clashed twice on September 22 and 23.
The two-day battle claimed the lives of eight regime troops, and at least 15 others sustained injuries, according to the White Tiger Column.
According to the statement, nearly 200 villagers have been forced to move to other towns and villages due to the presence of soldiers in the monastery of Taung Kyar Inn village.
Meanwhile, a villager was killed when MOC-12’s Tat Thit artillery hill deliberately mortar shells into Naung Talar village in Kyondoe Township on 23 September, according to the KNU-Dooplaya District’s Information Center.
Tension remains high between the junta army stationed in the school in Taung Kyar Inn village and the combined forces of the KNDO Battalion, with junta army shelling heavy weapons, said the statement.
