Dawei, 8 October
Daily fighting has been raging in eastern Dawei of Tanintharyi Region since the last few days, resulting in casualties on both sides, according to the local defense forces.
A 100-strong junta column has invaded into eastern Dawei since October 1, triggering clashes with local resistance forces in Ye Waing and Pakhat Inn villages.
There were at least six fights in three days, from October 1 to October 3.
The battle claimed five junta soldiers, while a member of the People’s Defense Force lost his life, said resistance fighters.
The military situation between the two sides remains tense at the moment since soldiers are still stationed between Ye Waing and Khauk Taing Pyin Villages.
The fighting has driven more than 1,000 residents to flee from villages such as Pakhat, Ye Waing, Khauk Taing Pyin, Kin Kon, Myin Matat, Painne Chaung, and Har Myin Gyi.
In Tanintharyi, there were at least 50 clashes in September between the junta army and revolutionary joint forces, with both sides suffering losses.
