Mawlamyine, 31 October
Tensions have been rapidly intensifying since the announcement of Operation 1027 by the Three Brotherhood Alliances against the military regime, and the junta army has lost many bases, the worst situation since 1988.
The Three Brotherhood Alliance, which comprises the Myanmar National Democratic Alliance Army (MNDAA), the Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA), and the Arakan Army (AA) launched a surprise attack on the junta’s important targets in northern Shan State.
In the four days from the start of Operation 1027 to the 30 October, the alliance was able to seize nearly 70 junta bases in northern Shan State, capture dozens of regime troops, and confiscated a large amount of weapons and ammunition, according to the statement.
The Kokang group’s spokesperson Lee Kyaw Win, told Than Lwin Times, “Clashes continue in Mong Koe, Phaung Sai, and Theinni.
On October 30, two more junta bases of Mung Koe were captured again, and the allied groups blew up the Chin Shwe Hall border checkpoint on the Lashio-Muse Highway and the entrance bridge to Laukkai.
At the same time, the Ta’ang Army is trying to capture Mai Kyat base in Lashio Township of the 6th military region of Ta’ang around 4:00a.m. on October 30.
U Than Soe Naing, a military and political analyst, remarked, “I believe that this operation will be able to liberate large camps and regions from the initial stage of occupying small camps and small towns. Soon, the Laukkai, Kokang, and Mung Koe areas will be liberated.”
The junta aircraft bombed the villages of Maliphin and Nyophin Kyipa in Kokang’s Chin Shwe Haw area, damaging civilian homes on October 29, and Mung Koe, Man Yan and Pansai areas on October 30, according to the Three Brotherhood Alliance.
CDM Captain Kung Thu Win concluded that the greatest and worst collapse in terms of strength and morale was seen in the modern history of the military council in Operation 1027 of the alliance.
CDM Captain Zethu Aung from Air Force Kala said, “Operation 1027 may bring down the military council, and if all the ethnic groups fight together, the army will find it very difficult to command its troops.
The CDM captains stated that since the military council seized power, it has been difficult to reorganize its troops, which have been deployed across the country.
On the other hand, Operation 1027 was carried out not only in Northern Shan but also in Hteechaike Township of Sagaing Region, and fighting remained intense between the Arakan Army (AA) and the junta army from October 27 until yesterday.
Veteran politician U Pe Than pointed out that if the revolutionary forces in the whole country unite and attack the junta army in a systematic manner, it will not only suffer losses, but it will also lead to the collapse of the army.
Operation 1027, which gained popularity within days, was welcomed and supported by at least 10 revolutionary forces, including the NUG’s Ministry of Defense, the National Unity Consultative Council (NUCC), the Karenni National Progressive Party (KNPP) and the General Strike Coordination Body (GSCB).
On the other hand, the junta is facing massive attacks by the EAOs such as the Kachin Independence Army (KIA), the Karen National Union (KNU), the Chin National Front (CNF), the Karenni National Progressive Party (KNPP), and the All Burma Students’ Democratic Front (ABSDF), including the People’s Defense Force PDFs, which sprung up after the coup.
High-ranking military generals, including junta chief Min Aung Hlaing, have been commanding troops to respond to Operation 1027, according to the military community.
