Dawei, 21 November

The Dawei Guerilla Revolutionary Force (DGRF) reported that its forces launched a surprise attack on regime troops stationed near Shin Dat We and Phaung Daw Oo pagodas in Maung Me Shaung village in Tanintharyi Region’s Dawei.

About 30-strong junta unit was attacked by the DGRF’s 2nd company around 12:30 pm on 19 November.

According to a DGRF spokesperson, the junta army had no time to prepare because the revolutionary group was able to gain the upper hand during the attack.

At least six regime troops were killed and some injured as a result of the attack, according to locals.

After that incident, the military regime arrested at least three locals for questioning.

On November 18, the two sides exchanged fire as the junta column advanced towards Phaung Daw Oo Pagoda from the Phayarme checkpoint.

After a 30-minute exchange of fire, the regime troops retreated to Phayarme checkpoint, and casualty figures were under investigation.

Intense fighting has resumed between the junta army and local resistance fighters since late last month, and tightened security hinders the movement of residents.
