Myeik, 14 December
A blast occurred at the residence of U Thein Lwin, a former chief minister of Tanintharyi Region, who is also a member of the Union Solidarity and Development Party (USDP), on Mya Yeik Nyo 11th Street in Tanintharyi Region’s Myeik Tonwship, locals confirmed to Than Lwin Times.
The incident happened at the house of U Thein Lwin, who is also the chairman of Myeik District’s USDP, around 8 p.m. on 12 December.
No one was injured in the explosion, but the fence, car, and glass window were damaged, according to local residents.
Almost 20 minutes after the detonation, the junta soldiers arrived, opened fire, cut off the electricity in the neighborhood, and searched the homes.
The regime troops raided homes in Aung Mingalar Ward, near the highway terminal in Myeik, and arrested four young men.
The revolutionary forces have yet to issue any statement regarding the explosion at former chief minister U Thein Lwin’s residence.
According to PDF official in Myeik Township, U Thein Lwin is the militia leader of Myeik District and is also a member of the regime’s Myeik District Planning and Administration Council.
U Thein Lwin served as minister of the Ministry of Forestry, Ministry of Mines, and Ministry of Planning and Commerce in the Tanintharyi under the U Thein Sein administration.
