Thayetchaung, 19 December
At least five junta soldiers were reportedly killed in landmine attack when they rummage through houses in Nyaung Zin village in Tanintharyi Region’s Thayetchaung Township, according to revolutionary forces.
On December 17, around 7 a.m., 50-strong military forces arrived in Nyaung Zin village in three trucks and ransacked one house after another.
The military column was attacked by a landmine between Nyaung Zin village market and a high school around 10 a.m.
After the attack, the junta army recklessly opened fire in the neighborhood, carried the wounded into trucks, and left for Thayethnakhwa village, said locals.
According to resistance forces, at least five military personnel might have been killed in the attack, but the Than Lwin Times has not yet been able to confirm the report.
In Tanintharyi, the military council ransacked people’s homes, forcibly took valuables, set fire to the homes, and threatened to label those who support the members of the People’s Defense Forces as rebels and wipe them out.
