After a couple fight, a man set fire to his mother-in-law’s house in Zinkyaik of Mon State’s Paung Township, killing a seven-year-old girl, said locals.
Both are farm workers, and Daw Khin Than Cho has been staying with her mother, Daw Khin Nyunt, in War Yi Yu Street in Zinkyaik for three days after a quarrel with his husband, U Khin Aye.
On December 27 around 1 am, U Khin Aye arrived at his mother-in-law house and burned down the house.
The fire destroyed two houses belonging to Daw Khin Nyunt and adjacent neighbor Ko Toe Toe and killed her granddaughter, Ma Thun Pa Kahtaw in Grade 1 student.
The fire was put out by the Paung fire brigade, rescue team, and locals around 2 am.
U Khin Aye, the son-in-law who ran away after burning his mother-in-law’s house, was arrested by local residents and is at the Zinkyaik Police Station.
On November 22, a fire broke out in a house on Bon Kyaung Road in Zingkyik, killing four people and spreading to eight houses, according to the locals.
