Mawlamyine, 9 August
The spirit of 8888 Uprising needs to be developed in struggles against the military dictatorship, said Acting President of National Unity Government Duwa Lashi La, during an online event to commemorate the 8888 Uprising on 8 August.
“Democracy movement in Myanmar was initiated in 1988, and its further step is the Spring Revolution in 2021. So, we need to revive the 8888 Uprising spirit in rooting out military dictatorship,” the acting president said.
He also urged NUG members to move forward to establish a new federal democracy nation with this spirit.
He continued to say, “We need to accomplish the goals of Spring Revolution to express our gratitude to those who sacrificed their lives in democracy movement.”
