Mawlamyine, 7 September
The Mawlamying Kidney Foundation announced on September 5 that the Mawlamying Dialysis Center in Kyauk Tan Industrial Zone, Mawlamying, Mon State, will be temporarily closed at the end of September.
An official from the Mawlamying Kidney Foundation said that the decision to temporarily close Mawlamying Dialysis Center was made after the skilled nurses working at Mawlamying Dialysis Center left their jobs and new nurses had not been hired.
However, the center will give treatment to kidney patients until September 30 and will announce the reopening date after the appointment of professional nurses.
Mawlamying Dialysis Center was opened in December 2018 and provides kidney dialysis for patients with kidney failure.
Kidney patients expressed concern that the closure of Mawlamying Dialysis Center would make it difficult and more costly for them to seek treatment at private hospitals.
According to the officials from the Mawlamying Kidney Foundation, nearly 20 kidney patients are treated at the Mawlamying Dialysis Center every month.
