Yangon, July (17)
After the arrest of the founder of the Kaung For You online school, which was opened under the guidance of the National Unity Government (NUG), nearly 20 CDM teachers have been arrested nationwide, the sources close to the education community told Than Lwin Times.
On July 13, the founder of the online school was arrested, and after some information was leaked, CDM teachers teaching at the online school were also arrested.
As of July 16, nearly 20 CDM teachers who were teaching at Kaung For You online school have been arrested, and at least 12 other federal online schools have temporarily closed due to security reasons.
After the arrest of the teachers, other CDM teachers and parents of some students are hiding because they are afraid of being arrested.
The continuous arrest of CDM teachers is a flagrant violation of freedom of education and treating teachers as enemies, the education strike committee said in its statement on July 16.
The NUG’s Ministry of Education said that online school’s inability to properly maintain personal information after collecting it, is a violation of the right to secure personal information, so the relevant school management committee is responsible for it.
