Tanintharyi, July (23)
Tanintharyi-based civil organizations and rural-based groups issued a joint statement calling on the Karen National Union (KNU) and Kathoolei Army to negotiate if there is any dispute between them for the interests of the people.
On July 19, former KNDO Commander-in-Chief Brigadier General Saw Ne Dar Mya announced the formation of the Kawthoolei Army under his leadership, and subsequently, the Karen National Union (KNU) responded that it did not accept the establishment of the army.
Civil organizations expressed their concern that these issues would lead to unwanted discord and subsequent conflicts among the revolutionary forces who are supporting federal democracy and opposing the military coup by all means.
The civic groups urged them to mediate and resolve the issues in a generous manner if there are discontents between the People’s Defense Forces under the command of the Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) and Karen National Defence Organisation (KNDO), and those of the newly formed Kawthoolei Army.
Tanintharyi-based civil society organizations and rural-based groups said they urged the EAOs to work together to unite diversity as a strength in establishing a future federal democratic union with self-determination and equality, with the common goal of eradicating any autocracy, including chauvinism and military dictatorship.
