Mawlamyine, 7 December
The Mon State Federal Council (MSFC) said that only if the military dictatorship can be overthrown through armed revolution, the Mon people can build a federal democratic union with the full right of self-determination, which the Mon people have longed for.
The MSFC issued a statement on December 5 urging all Mon youths and revolutionary forces regarding the military council’s terrorist attacks on the people of Mon State.
The MSFC encourages other ethnic youth, including Mon youth in Mon State, to fight the current military dictatorship as much as possible in order to build a free and equal federal union in the future.
The New Mon State Party (NMSP), an ethnic armed organization representing the Mon people, sticks to the principle of solving political problems through political means and has not yet joined the fight to eradicate the military dictatorship.
The Military Council’s Southern Command and its battalions and outposts carried out artillery shelling and aerial attacks on villages in Kyaikmaraw Township after the Chaunghnakhwa battle between the Mon and Karen states in the second week of November.
The attacks caused thousands of people in the villages where Mon people live to flee to safety, MSFC said.
The military council carried out atrocities not only in Kyaikmaraw township but also in Kyaikto, Belin, Thaton, Thabyuzayet and Ye townships, according to the statement.
The MSFC strongly condemns that the military council’s attack on innocent people is a major violation of military rules, and the junta committed war crimes against humanity throughout the country, including Mon State.
The MSFC has informed the Mon people to avoid crowds, dig trenches, keep an eye on military news, and follow the guidelines for dos and don’ts during wartime for their safety.
The MSFC is assisting IDPs to the best of its ability and is urging monks, social organizations, and local political organizations to do the same.
