Five people were killed and four others injured in a fishing boat fire near Golden Panda ice mill bridge in Aye Yeik Nyein ward of Tanintharyi Region’s Kawthoung Township, the rescue workers told Than Lwin Times.
On the morning of August 8, three fishing boats caught fire after an electrical shock occurred in a fishing boat named Htet Htet Paing, which was docked at Golden Panda ice mill bridge.
After the accident, a dead body was found, and four injured people were rescued on August 8.
On August 9, as the rescue operations continued, the bodies of the other victims who died in the fire were found inside the belly of the charred fishing boat.
Those who were killed in the fire and those who were injured were taken to Kawthong District Public Hospital and the rescue operations halted at three o’clock in the afternoon on August 9.
The identities of those who died in the fire have not yet been confirmed, and the company has listed the missing.
