A second militia leader was shot dead in Daevarein village in Mon State’s Thaton Township around 8 am on September 29, the locals told Than Lwin Times.
Soe Win, the assistant militia leader of the Daevarein village militia group, was shot dead while sitting with a friend at a tea shop by the People’s Defense Forces (PDF).
Soe Win was shot in the head and died on the spot.
Soe Win, the deputy leader of a regime-backed militia group, was assassinated as part of the Nang Htike Auhng mission because he had been shooting, threatening, and coercing the residents in the village, according to the Thaton PDF.
Moreover, the PDFs also seized a pistol, a USDP membership card, a militia member list, a phone, and some documents.
The regime forces transported the dead body of Soe Win to the Thatthon Township Public Hospital.
After the military coup, junta-appointed administrators, informants, and members of militia groups were often assassinated in Thatthong Township.
