The Karen tacticalcommander of the Dawei Guerrilla Revolutionary Force (DGRF) lost his life in a combat that broke out at Bemattaung near Wakon and Thingandkon villages in Dawei, the DGRF reported on January 9.
On January 7, a clash between regime forces and a combined force PDFs occurred near Bemattaung.
A 65-year-old Pah Htee serving as DGRF tacticaland Cuckoo platoon commander, was gunned down by the military council.
In a statement, the Dawei Guerrilla Revolutionary Force (DGRF) stated that, despite the death of tacticalcommander Pha Htee, they have vowed to follow his words and continue to carry out their unfinished duties as comrades.
In addition to the tacticalcommander’s death, three PDF comrades were injured, and the death toll on junta side may be significant, but the exact number is unknown, the DGRF said.
The hard-hit regime forces advanced towards Wakon village on January 8, setting fire to 15 houses.
As a result, all of the villagers have been displaced and need humanitarian assistance.
