A man detained by the Theinzayat-based LIB-207 in Mon State’s Kyaikto was tortured to death, according to sources close to the family.
On January 19, 41-year-old Ko Kyaw Zin Latt and his son from Seikkalay village in Shwe Kyin Town of Bago Region, were arrested by the junta forces while visiting Theinzayat.
Ko Kyaw Zin Lat was taken to the LIB-207 by the regime forces after he had an argument with a restaurant owner in Theinzayat.
After that, Ko Kyaw Zin Latt lost contact with his family, and on January 25, the military council notified the family to pick up the body.
Ko Kyaw Zin Latt died of bruises on his face, lips, head, neck, and back after being arrested by the army.
Ko Kyaw Zin Latt, who was captured, tortured, and killed by the regime forces, left behind three children, including an 8-year-old one.
Ko Kyaw Zin Latt’s funeral is reportedly being held in Seikkalay village, where his family lives.
According to the Assistance Association for Political Prisoners (AAPP), more than 2,800 citizens were arrested and killed nationwide during the military coup.
