The National Unity Government sent a message on 13 March to the 35th anniversary of the death of two engineering students in Myanmar’s popular uprising that ended one-party political system of the country for decades.
Prominent two male students from Rangoon Institute of Technology, Phone Maw and Soe Naing, were among other activists who were killed in the deadly and brutal crackdowns of junta regime in the past 35 years.
Prime Minister of National Unity Government, U Mahn Win Khaing Than, expressed the condolences of his government and paid tribute to the two students who were killed by the riot forces of the military, and this accident fueled the democracy movement of the country and led to the historic uprising across the country in August 1988.
