On the afternoon of March 14, a member of the junta-affiliated militia group was shot dead on the Yangon-Mawlamyine highway near Phalat village in Mon State’s Paung Township, the residents told Than Lwin Times.
At around 12:00 noon that day, U Kyaw Soe Moe alias Steel Yoe, a member of the militia group, was returning to Paung from Phalat village on a motorcycle, was shot dead by two gunmen following him on a motorcycle at close range.
Militia member U Kyaw Soe Moe alias Steel Yoe received three gunshot wounds to the head and chest and died at the scene.
According to local residents, U Kyaw Soe Moe is an assistant to the Phalat village administrator and a law broker.
After a member of the militia was shot dead, the regime troops blocked some roads and conducted searches.
It is still unknown which group assassinated militia member U Kyaw Soe Moe.
On December 10, two police officers from the Zinkyaik police station who were returning from Paung Township to Zinkyaik on a motorcycle were shot dead on the Yangon-Mawlamyine highway near Phalat village.
