Mawlamyine, April (7)
The strategies and tactics designed for the implementation of five of the 11 major sectors included in the Mon Youth Policy were approved, Nai Ji Kywan, the secretary of the Steering Committee of the Mon Youth Forum, told Than Lwin Times.
On March 25 and 26, a meeting was held by the Mon Youth Forum (MYF) in Mawlamyine, Mon State, and five strategies for Mon youth were drafted and approved.
The five sectors approved as strategies include youth and politics, youth and security/peace, youth and education, youth and drugs, and youth and literary culture.
According to Nai Ji Kywan, these strategies will be implemented in May while coordinating with the relevant organizations for the process.
He added, “Among the strategic processes that we have developed, we have set priorities 1, 2, and 3. As priority no. 1, the processes will be implemented around May. We plan to discuss things that cannot be done by the MYF alone with the relevant civil society organizations and cooperate with them in the strategic part”.
A committee has been formed to draft and implement the remaining six sections of the youth policy as strategies and tactics, and it is estimated that the program will be able to start only around June, and it is planned to be finalized before December of this year, said Nai Ji Kywan.
However, due to the instability of the current political situation in the country, he said that despite the difficulties in implementing some of the processes for the Mon Youth Policy, he will try to carry out other parts.
The Mon Youth Policy was approved at the 2nd Mon Youth Conference held from January 27 to 29, last year, in Thaton District, controlled by the New Mon State Party, and the newly elected Mon Youth Forum Central Committee and secretaries decided to finalize the draft within the next six months.
After the conference was held, the sectors for Mon youth policy are being implemented, and many processes have been included in the recently-approved strategy, according to the Mon Youth Forum.
