Kyaikto, May (31)
Two civilians were hit by landmines in Mon State’s Kyaikto and Thaton Townships, locals and rescue teams told Than Lwin Times.
On May 29, around 7:00 p.m., Ko Chan Myae Aung, a resident of Theinzayat town in Kyaikto Township, was hit by a landmine on the entrance road of the village while riding a motorcycle to a village near the bank.
Ko Chan Myae Aung received shrapnel wounds in the legs and hands, and his motorcycle was also damaged.
Meanwhile, a six-wheeler truck departing from Belin Township to Thaton Township was hit by a landmine and attacked by gunmen near Shwe Yaung Pya village around 7:00 a.m. on May 30.
Ma Ju Ju in the vehicle was injured by shrapnel from a landmine in her head and hands.
The injured civilians have been sent to Theinzayat and Thaton District Hospitals.
The landmine attacks on passenger buses and trucks in Mon State’s Belin and Thaton townships killed two civilians and injured four others, according to locals.
