19 Mon students’ unions urge the people not to take part in Junta’s Thingyan pavilion

Nineteen students’ unions in Mon State have called for the people not to enjoy the junta’s Thingyan pavilions, and not to have fun with the crowd during the Festival.

The military council, according to the statement, has been attempting to cover up arrests, killings, and imprisonments around the country, as well as house burnings and arrests and torture of minors, by celebrating the festivities.

The regime built up the pavilions that fade the essence of traditional Myanmar Thingyan and urged the people to come and have fun at the Water Festivals.



The military council damaged people’s property, but they are attempting to gain a good reputatuion in the world arena in many ways, and to divide the people by staging the Thingyan Festival.

Therefore, 19 students’ unions in Mon State are asking citizens to join the revolution to overthrow the military rule.

The Mon State military council has set up pavilions in townships to commemorate the Water Splashing Festivals and encourage people to participate in their events.
