A critic of military council, Colonel (Retd.) Aung Myin Thu and his family were arrested on the night of April 21, the locals said.
Colonel (Retd.) Aung Myin Thu and his family members, who live in Min Ye Kyaw Swar 9 St., Ward 7, South Okkalapa Township, Yangon, were arrested by the military council together with ward administrators at around 10 pm the day before yesterday.
It is unknown how many family members were arrested along with Colonel (Retd.) Aung Myin Thu and their whereabouts. Some media outlets have reported that Colonel (Retd.) Aung Myin was taken into custody for interrogation.
Colonel (Retd.) Aung Myin Thu demanded the release of President U Win Myint, State Counselor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi after the military coup.
Under the pen-name, he has been writing critical articles about the wrongdoings of the military council.
In recent months, the coup council has also arrested those who critized them—Police Colonel Zaw Win from the CID training school; Yinmarpin district Police Lieutenant Colonel Aung Naing Oo, and Police Major Myint Aung, Platoon Commander of the No. 49 Narcotics Police Force in Pathein, Ayeyarwady Region.
