One civilian killed, three others seriously injured by regime’s shelling at Khale Tagun Taing village

The Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) and military troops clashed on the afternoon of April 23 near the Kale Tagun Daing village police station in Kyain Seik Gyi Township, according to the locals.

During the fighting, the military council troops stationed at the police station fired heavy artillery shells into the village, killing one local woman and injuring three others.

The injured civilians were taken to hospital by the KNU and at least three members of the military council may have been killed or wounded in the fighting, the locals said.

Currently, locals are beginning to flee due to fears that the fighting will intensify because of increased military presence.
