Dawei, April (27)

After the Pakari police station in Tanintharyi Region’s Dawei-Htee Khee road, Dawei Township was set on fire, the locals report that the military council has begun a tremendous offensive.

The Pakari police station in Pakari hamlet was set on fire by a local PDF team on April 24.

Six months ago, the police were pulled from a Pakari police outpost that is frequently used by military personnel.

After the police station was set on fire, some 100 military council troops marched from Dawei to Pakari village on April 26.

About 30 military council troops outside Pakari village also opened fire on the village on the night of April 25. As a result, hundreds of people in nearby villages, including Pakari, have been displaced, according to a local resident.

Locals are concerned that the conflict may worsen as a result of the military council’s reinforcements.
