Belin, July (26)
The officials from the combined force of Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) told Than Lwin Times that they attacked a military checkpoint near Than Bridge in Mon State’s Belin Township.
The KNLA and allied troops attacked the checkpoint with mortar shells.
After being attacked, the military council retaliated with heavy weapons, and the two sides exchanged fire.
The KNLA’s mortar shell may have resulted in casualties, and the details of the ground situation are still being investigated, according to the KNLA.
The same checkpoint was attacked by the Kyaikto Revolutionary Force (KRF) in June, killing one military personnel.
There were clashes between junta armed forces and a combined force of KNLA in Belin after the military seized power, but there hasn’t been any recent fighting there.
