Nearly 1,000 residents have fled some villages in Tanintharyi Region’s Yebyu Township due to the military council’s intrusion, and some villagers have been arrested, the local sources informed Than Lwin Times.
The regime forces invaded the villages – Akani, Khamauk Chaung, Zumtaw, Wat Chaung and Ya Nge- in Yebyu Township on July 30.
After that, the military troops stationed in schools and monasteries and continuously opened fire into the villages with various kinds of weapons.
The attack forced over 1000 villagers to rush to safe places and hide in the jungles.
The junta armed forces ransacked the homes of the villagers and took their valuables and about 20 motorcycles, the locals said.
In addition, the military council arrested 15 local people from Akani and Khamauk Chaung villages in Yebyu Township and they have not released them yet.
After the military took power, thousands of local people have fled the clashes between the junta troops and resistance forces and need humanitarian aid.
