Pyintbyu, August (3)
The military council is planning to recruit 30 youths per village tract to form a militia group under the pretext of community security.
The township and ward administrator held a meeting in July and started collecting the list of members since July 1, the locals told Than Lwin Times.
It is reported that the formation of the militia has been planned since the beginning of 2022 due to the decrease in strength of the military regime, but it has not yet been implemented.
The township administrator is leading the recruitment program and is forcing the locals to cooperate with the military council.
A ward administrator, who did not want to be named, told Than Lwin Times that young people do not want to join the militia.
While the junta is trying to form a militia, young people in Pwintbyu Township are reportedly running away from their homes.
In Pwintbyu Township, the regime troops tighten security and conduct searches and arrests.
