More than 80 junta soldiers were killed in the clashes between the two sides in July, according to the Karenni Nationalities Defence Force.

The Karenni joint forces clashed with the junta armed forces 48 times in July and confiscated 21 arms, killing 88 military personnel.

The junta’s artillery shells killed two civilians and one PDF comrade during the clashes, the KNDF said.

Meanwhile, the military council carried out 21 airstrikes alongside indiscriminate shootings.

The junta army has bolstered its presence from Hpekon and Mobye through Loikaw and Demoso Townships, a KNDF official said.

Fierce fighting continues between the military council and the PDFs in Karenni State after coup, and nearly 200,000 residents have fled the conflict.
