Three locals found dead after junta’s arrest

Three local residents who had been arrested by the junta were found dead in Bagawzun village in Tanintharyi Region’s Yebyu Township, the locals told Than Lwin Times.

On July 31, the regime forces invaded Bagawzun village and arrested U Saw Shi, U Maung Kyi, U Aye Ba, Ko Zaw Thar and Ko Htein Win.

Among them, the dead bodies of U Saw Shi, Ko Zaw Thar and Ko Htein Win were discovered on a rubber farm southeast of the village on the evening of August 2.

The junta killed and buried three arrestees, and burned down their burial site to hide the traces.

U Maung Kyi remains in custody, but U Aye Ba escaped.

Family members are worried about the arrest of U Maung Kyi.

Thousands of locals are fleeing Yebyu Township as a result of the military council’s incursion into the villages to take control of the region.
