Mawlamyine, August (12)

On the 75th anniversary of the Mon Revolution Day, Mon revolutionary forces call for the Mon people to engage in the Spring Revolution, that would eradicate the military dictatorship, for the rights of the Mon people in order to create their own destiny.

The Mon revolutionary forces who are fighting against the military council urged the Mon people on the 75th anniversary of the Mon Revolution, which falls on August 11.

The Mon people also need to overthrow the authoritarian regime, the Mon revolutionary forces said, taking advantage of the fact that many ethnic groups, including the Burmans, are opposing the military regime.

Therefore, Nai Ko Thu, who is in charge of the Northern Region Steering Committee of the Mon State Defense Force (MSDF), urged the Mon people to help the Spring Revolution with manpower or money in order to create their own destiny and self-determination.

It has been more than 18 months since the military, led by General Min Aung Hlaing, seized power on the pretext of voter fraud in the 2020 general election.

After the coup, the People’s Defense Forces have sprung up all over the country, and in Mon state, the revolutionary forces representing the Mon people are also taking up arms against the junta.

“This battle must be the last one. Now is a good time for Burmese and other ethnic groups to work together to root out the military council’s tyrannical mechanism. Therefore, we ask the people to help by providing manpower, money, or weapons,” said Lieutenant Yan Naing, who is in charge of the northern Ye People’s Defense Force (YPDF).

The military council’s seizure of the people’s power concerns not only the Burmans but all ethnic groups, so Lieutenant Yan Naing urges people not to cooperate with the military council and not to use military products.

The Mon People’s Interim Cooperation Committee (MSICC) urges the entire Mon community, including the Mon youth, to fight in various ways through political, human rights, and military in the unfinished revolution against the military dictatorship and for national liberation.

This year’s 75th anniversary of the Mon Revolution Day was celebrated in the areas controlled by the New Mon Party and in various areas where the Mon people live.
