Demoso, August (16)

About 600 junta troops are preparing to carry out an offensive in Demoso, where there is military tension, the information officer from Demoso PDF told Than Lwin Times.

The military council army has arrived at Dokhami village in Demoso Township to invade with the current strength of 200 troops and 400 reinforcements, for a total of about 600 troops since a few days ago.

Most of the local people are afraid because of the reports that the junta army is preparing to invade Demoso, a source from Demoso PDF told Than Lwin Times.

Almost every night, the junta troops have been firing heavy weapons, and on August 14, there was some mortar shelling from the troops stationed in Thae Sule village in Demoso Township.

The military council, on the other hand, is attempting to restore regulatory power over Demoso Township while extending an invitation to those who fled the conflict to return to their homes.

The 3rd Battalion of the Karenni National Defense Force (KNDF) issued a warning in recent days to the residents of Demoso Township, where the junta is based, to leave as soon as possible and not to cooperate with the military council.

After the military’s power grab, more than 200,000 locals have fled due to the fighting between the junta armed forces and PDFs.
