Kyaikto, August (18)

The military council is preparing to invade Kyaikto Township in the KNU-controlled Brigade 1 area, the official from Kyaikto PDF told Than Lwin Times.

The military council reinforced another 100 troops in Kyaikto Township’s villages of Thainzayat, Thintseikpin, Latpanpin, Ingabo, Maeyonelay, Motepalin and Mayanchaung which have already 100 soldiers.

The military council troops, which are preparing to invade, have threatened to fire heavy weapons into the villages if the joint forces of the Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) attack their camp.

The in-charge of Thaton PDF said that they are ready to attack because the military council is preparing to launch an operation.

The local people are worried that fighting will happen because of the junta’s increased military presence.

In July, the military council fired heavy weapons into Zeepyaung and Winkan villages, forcing nearly 4,000 to flee.
