Drone attack kills 2 soldiers, wounds 5 on Myawaddy-Walley road

Two junta soldiers were killed and five were injured in a drone attack while stationed near Kyaw Wah Boe Pagoda on the Myaddy-Walley road in KNU-held Brigade 6, the Cobra Column reported on August 29.

The Cobra Column and its allied Federal Wings Drone group conducted the attack on the military unit based near Kyaw Wah Boe Pagoda around the midnight hour of August 28.

The attack killed one warrant officer (2) and one sergeant, and wounded five others, including two officers.

The sergeant who was injured in the attack died at the Mawlamyine hospital, while the other two officers were in critical condition, according to the sources familiar with the military council.

In the battle that took place on August 23, the military council attacked with cluster bombs and 500-pound bombs from the air, as well as on the ground with artillery unit, drone unit and multiple launch rocket system.

The Cobra Column was forced to relinquish a hill close to Kyaw Wah Boe Pagoda as a result of the military council’s ground troops and air strikes, and now the military council has occupied this area and stationed there.

The KNU claimed that because of the military council’s indiscriminate firing and airstrikes in the Brigade 6 area, more than 90,000 people were forced to seek refuge in shelters.
