Belin, September (2)

The military column was ambushed between Wintarpan and Kyaukphar villages in Mon State’s Belin Township on August 31, the officials from KNU’s Thaton District told Than Lwin Times.

The Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) and its allied PDF attacked a 100-member force of military unit which was marching on foot from Wintarpan camp to Lay Kay village.

After the attack, the exchange of fire with small and heavy weapons took place for almost 30 minutes.

“We ambushed the military column marching to Lay Kay village. There were no casualties on our side but the military personnel might have been killed,” the official from Thaton PDF said.

Later, the junta’s Awingyi artillery unit reportedly fired into the area between Kyaukphyar and Awingyi villages.

Currently, the advance of the regime forces is causing tension between the combined team of KNLA and them.

Security forces in Belin Township have been repeatedly targeted since the military coup, and drones have also hit junta-controlled offices.
