Three civilians, including a child, injured hit by mortar shell

The three civilians including a child, were hurt in a mortar attack conducted by BGF (Border Guard Force) checkpoint in Nyaungkone village of Hpa-an Township under KNU Brigade 1 (Thaton District), the KNU reported.

On September 24, the mortar shell fired by BGF checkpoint exploded in front of Naw Ma Nyunt near Nyaungkone village.

The explosion injured the eight-year-old child and the other two women, as well as livestock, the statement said.

The KNU Thaton District spokesperson told Than Lwin Times that he could not accept the BGF’s targeted attacks on civilians when there was no fighting, and that such human rights violations need to be stopped.

Due to the military council’s violation of human rights and targeted attacks on civilians in KNU Brigade 1 controlled areas such as Kyaikto, Hpa-an, Belin and Thaton Townships

More than 20,000 local residents have fled to safety and have not been able to return to their homes until now.
