A passenger bus was shot on the Yangon-Mawlamyine highway near Kamarsai village in Mon State’s Thaton Township, wounding one man, the sources told Than Lwin Times.

The Shwe Wae Min’s passenger bus, which was driving from Yangon to Dawei, was shot between Shweyaungpyi village and Kamarsai village around 8 pm on October 26.

A male passenger was hit in the left thigh while the passenger vehicle was being shot.

According to reports, a social rescue team brought the injured passenger to the Thathon Township public hospital.

Than Lwin Times has not yet been able to independently confirm which organization is responsible for the shooting of the passenger bus.

The KNLA joint troops, however, attacked a military convoy between Shaweyaungpya and Kamarsai villages in Thaton Township that night, resulting in exchange of fire between the two sides.

At least 10 soldiers might have been killed in the attack, said Major Saw Kyaw Myint, chairman of the KNU’s Allied Supervisor Committee – Thaton District.

Following the military coup, military convoys were frequently attacked on the Yangon-Mawlamyine road in Mon State, and commuters were killed in firefights.
