On the morning of November 4, the joint forces of the Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) attacked the Wiyaw camp of the Light Infantry Battalion 9 of the Military Council, which was based in Wiyaw village, Thaton Township of Mon State, the officials of KNU (Thaton District) told Than Lwin Times.

The KNLA joint forces under the KNU’s Allied Supervisory Committee (Thaton) attacked the camp with small and heavy weapons.

In the attack on the camp, the two sides exchanged fire for nearly 20 minutes.

Saw Kyaw Myint, chairman of the KNU’s Allied Supervisory Committee (Thaton), said some regime members might have been killed in the attack, and that the details of the situation on the ground are being investigated.

After the attack on the Wiyaw camp, the military troops have been inspecting pedestrians since the morning of November 4.

Since the military takeover, the Wiyaw camp of the military council has been attacked at least five times, with suffering heavy losses on junta side.

A few days ago, KNLA joint forces attacked the Kyarpan checkpoint of the Military Council in Thaton Township, killing at least three soldiers.
