Tanintharyi, December (16)

The People’s Defense Force in Tanintharyi met with local residents for the first time, according to Myeik District Battalion 2.

Members of Myeik District Battalion 2 met with local people from 10 villages in Taninthari Township from December 12 to 14.

According to the information officer of Myeik District Battalion 2, they explained to the people the administration, security, and defense methods, as well as listened to the people’s submissions during the meeting.

He said that this meeting will give the PDFs an opportunity to join the revolution together with the local people and gain more public trust.

Following the military coup in Tanintharyi Township, there have been frequent clashes between the junta forces and the local PDFs, and both sides are currently keeping an eye on each other.

More than 2,000 refugees who fled their homes due to fighting in Tanintharyi Township haven’t been able to return home.
