Kyainseikgyi, January (5)
The combined force of Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) raided the three Battalions of the Military Council based in Kyainseikgyi Township, Karen State, since the morning of January 4, the sources from joint force said.
The KNLA joint force launched offensive into the junta’s infantry battalions—32, 283, and 284 near Kyainseikgyi.
The joint force was able to capture the central outposts of the infantry battalions 32 and 284, and the fighting between the two sides was reported to have been fierce until 3 pm yesterday.
Following the raid on junta battalions, the military aircraft’s constant gunfire caused injuries to the civilians.
There are reports that officers, including the battalion commander and deputy battalion commander, were killed in the attack, and the battalion commander’s wife and some female police officers were under arrest.
Neither the Karen National Union (KNU) nor the Military Council have released anything about the current situation.
On January 3, the combined force of the KNLA occupied two Border Guard Forces (BGF) of the military regime on the Phayar Thone Su-Thanbyuzayat road near Taungsun village in Kyainseikgyi.
