Mawlamyine, 5 February
The National Unity Government announced to recognize additional 15 public schools that consented to follow the public education policy for the interim period education during the military coup in Myanmar.
This followed permission of first 33 schools on 23 January for interim education program, making 48 schools in total.
These schools are conducting online teaching and more schools will be allowed after careful and detailed scrutiny.
Moreover, NUG is working to present recognition certificates to the on-site public schools.
NUG’s schools have been opened in the areas with strong resistance movement and controlled zone of people defense forces. However, the junta is carrying out airstrikes on the public education schools.
The research institute ISP-Myanmar has said from 8 to million of students have lost their access to education since the military coup in February 2021.
