Nyaunglaybin, February (11)

One civilian was killed and three others injured when junta forces fired heavy weapons into the area in Nyaunglaybin District of KNU Brigade 3, reported the KNU Central Committee on February 8.

On February 7, a clash occurred near Ohnpinsu village in KNLA Brigade 3 as about 50 regime forces entered Brigade 3 via Natthakwin region.

According to the KNU statement, the regime troops deliberately fired more than 50 artillery rounds from the Natthankwin bridge into the villages after the fighting.

According to the KNU, the 22 shells landed in Ohnpinsu village and exploded, killing one villager and injuring three others, including a woman.

It is reported that more than 4,000 people from seven villages – Ohnpinsu, Yedwinkon Lay, Yeswinkon Gyi, Thabyaykon, Ohnchitkon, Yan Myo AUng and Hnautkon – fled overnight due to the military council’s artillery fire.
