On February 9, one civilian was killed and another wounded after hitting a landmine planted by the Border Guard Force (BGF) in KNU Brigade 1, Thaton District.
On the 5th and 6th of February, two civilians stepped on landmines planted around the camp of the Karen Border Guard Force (BGF) stationed in Meikhtila village, Hpa-an Township.
Daw Naw Nge, 58, from Meikhtila village sustained a laceration on his left leg and 55-year-old Saw Tala Kwe was killed in the blast, according to the statement.
That camp is a division headed by Battalion Commander, Lieutenant Chit Maung, under BGF-1014 Battalion.
The military council’s BGF troops in Meikhtila village have planted landmines around their camp, raising concerns among local people who raise livestock for a living.
In another incident, three local residents were injured due to a landmine placed by the junta base near Kyotadar village in Mon State’s Ye Township between January 28 and February 5.
