Locals said that people could no longer cope with economic hardships and family problems, and ended up killing themselves after the military coup.
Health experts say that suicides are most often caused by psychological problems, such as excessive anxiety, extreme depression, and hopelessness.
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), about 800,000 people commit suicide every year in the world, and Myanmar has a 13% suicide mortality rate per 100,000 population.
