The combined force of the People’s Defense Forces in Tanintharyi launched attacks on the advanced regime troops and strategic hill base near Yebyu village in Tanintharyi on the same day, said the PDF members.
The strategic hill base at Yebyu village was attacked by the KNU’s battalion 11 and PDF joint forces with heavy and small weapons on April 1.
The exchange of fire lasted nearly 30 minutes, and the number of casualties on the junta side is still being investigated, said the soruces.
At around 9:00 a.m. yesterday, the battle broke out again when the PDF joint forces attacked the junta troops that had entered Thein Khun village in Tanintharyi Township with mines.
At least five members of the regime troops were killed during the battle, while the People’s Defense Forces were able to retreat without being harmed.
The daily clashes in Tanintharyi township have continued since the last week of March, as massive troops have entered.
According to local residents, more than 1,000 residents of Thein Khun, Chaung Hna Pauk and nearby villages have fled to safety due to the fighting between the two forces.
