The military council’s junta forces and the revolutionary forces are engaged in daily battle in Tanintharyi Township, where martial law has been imposed, the officials from the Tanintharyi coalition forces told Than Lwin Times.
Following the attack on the military council’s strategic hill in Tanintharyi’s Yebyu village by allied resistance forces, the junta launched a massive counter-offensive, leading fighting every day from March 28 to April 5.
The fighting spread to the villages of Theinkhun, Chaung Hna Pauk, Yebyu, Thaebyu, and Ban Lamut, with at least 15 battles taking place in eight days.
About 30 soldiers were killed and many were injured in the battle, and the revolutionary group also lost a PDF comrade and sustained injuries.
Those fighting against the regime troops are the KNU’s 4th Brigade, Kawthoolei Army, Tanintharyi Allied Forces, Tanintharyi PDF, and Myeik PDF.
According to local residents, nearly 3,000 residents from Theinkhun, Chaung Hna Pauk, Yebyu, Thaebyu, and Ban Lamut, as well as 10 other villages, have fled to safety as a result of the fighting and are in need of humanitarian assistance.
