Kyaikto, April (6)
A junta sergeant was assassinated on Yaongon-Mawlamyine, a highway near Ingabo village in Mon State’s Kyaikto Township on the morning of April 5, according to the KNU’s Allied Supervisory Committee.
At around 6 am on April 5, the combined forces of the Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) and Kyaikto Revolutionary Force (KRF) opened fire on Sergeant Kyaw San from Light Infantry Battalion 4 under the 44th Division stationed near the cemetery of Ingabo village in Kyaikto.
Sergeant Kyaw San was shot in the head and died on the spot.
The KRF reported that a hand grenade, phone, motorcycle, and handcuff were seized from the deceased Sergeant Kyaw San.
The chairman of the KNU’s Allied Oversight Committee told Than Lwin Times that Sergeant Kyaw San was one of the perpetrators of the attacks with heavy weapons in the villages.
Locals reported that after the junta sergeant was shot dead, regime troops blocked some roads and conducted searches in the forests.
